Kinotehnik Launches Practilite 602 as World’s First and Most Compact Smart LED Fresnel Light

After great success with their viewfinders, Kinotehnik expands into lighting accessories designed for the new era of content creation.

BURBANK—April 9, 2015—Kinotehnik launches PRACTILITE 602, the worlds first and most compact bi-color, variable beam smart LED fresnel light and celebrates the anniversary of their launch at NAB five years ago.  Since 2010, the Estonian-based Kinotehnik has sold over 100,000 viewfinders worldwide.

In 2009, entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Kinotehnik, Tõnis Liivamägi, introduced the LCDVF into the DSLR community as an affordable, yet top-quality LCD viewfinder. It was an immediate success and launched Kinotehnik as a respected manufacturer in the production equipment marketplace.

Following the robust sales of their viewfinders, award-winning Kinotehnik is now developing a line of well-designed photo and video accessories, including the new Practilite 602.  The 602 is the first in the range of 600-series smart LED fresnel lighting fixtures (601, 602, 603) daylight bicolor tungsten.

The Practilite 602 comes with an app for smartphones and is Bluetooth capable. This remote function is especially useful for single-person shooters or small crews.  From tungsten to daylight, the Practilite 602 allows content creators to easily dial in matching color balance, tune the brightness and set the beam angle remotely through the Practilite 602 app.

Liivamägi says this about the new Practilite 602, “The challenges of productions today require more efficiency and creativity and the Practilite 602 assists in delivering that.  We strive to design products that achieve the best experience for our users. This compact, but powerful smart fresnel light is designed to gather and throw as much light as possible through its 3.2″ 80mm fresnel lens to provide unprecedented size to light output ratio.”

The durable full aluminum construction and compact size makes it easy and cost effective for transporting and the universal AC/DC power supply can be used internationally.

The variable beam Fresnel and borosilicate glass lens enables to gather and throw the light much farther than conventional LED fixtures, enabling wider shot angles and precise light shaping without losing the LED output power/throw, which is typically the case with barndoor-controlled fixtures.

In today’s production environment there are so many different bulbs types used that one cannot rely on just “tungsten” anymore.  Be it CFL, LED, halogen and other types of lighting, the Practilite 602 is just the right tool to adapt to these various lighting conditions.

Kinotehnik’s is distributed in the US exclusively by Manios Digital & Film.  They will be showcasing their products, including the Practilite 602, at NAB at the Las Vegas Convention Center in booth C9039.

Tõnis Liivamäg says, “We create the technologies we would want to use as creators ourselves and we look forward to continuing to support the emerging generation of content creators with our products.”
